ABOUT US

Norzin Rugs has been in production for the last 35 years in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was established following the rising success of carpet enterprises started initially by Tibetans who fled the Chinese aggression in Tibet and settled in Nepal, bringing with them their knowledge of the age-old tradition of rug weaving. We at Norzin Rugs have been weaving carpets for the international market ever since our inception, and specialize in custom orders. We pride ourselves in providing our customers with the best in quality by producing fine 100% handmade Tibetan rugs.

Our weavers use the traditional Tibetan method of Senna hand knotting, which is a distinctive hallmark of Tibetan carpets, distinguishing us from all other carpet manufactures in the world. Our knotting ranges anywhere from 60 to 150 knots per square inch, whereas our carpet pile is created according to the need of the customer. We are able to weave a versatile range of designs from the very traditional Tibetan, Chinese, or Persian to the very modern or contemporary. The colors we use are either pure vegetable dyes or high quality Swiss dyes.

Needless to say, our carpets are all hand woven. We use pure Himalayan highland wool imported directly from Tibet and virgin New Zealand wool of the highest quality to ensure the very best in results. For our exclusive silk carpets we use pure silk imported from both China and India, therefore creating an exquisitely fine texture. For your modern, innovative carpets we use exciting new 100% natural materials like hemp, cactus, linen, or nettle fiber, which produce an entirely different effect from the traditional materials.
